AussieAl's Backyard Bird Pics
The apple was not eaten quite as quickly as I thought. I re-viewed the episode and discovered that the female Bowerbird grabbed what was left and pushed it overboard!
I made a short video of Mr Stick's arrival - right after he displaced the Currawong and began eating the apple: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=liZrhwE7mT8&feature=emb_logo
Al's birdbath has been a 'magnet' to a variety of birds over the last couple of days. With the drought conditions, the birds are visiting often!
Yesterday a rosella came, and again today:
Today looked like a replica of yesterday's pose! He didn't linger for long on either visit.
Just in time for Christmas, the King Parrot arrived, and didn't stay long either:
The currawongs came often - and splashed!
And a Peewee
A Spotted Dove
And the sweet little Red-Browed Finches
More birds are coming to Al's birdbath. Yesterday we saw a King Parrot again:
Today when the Lorikeets came to bathe I noticed a different coloured bird waiting on the ground in the background:
After they left, the visitor came in for a bathe and a drink!
It was the Eastern Rosella who'd been seen around the day before!
Shortly after that, the PeeWee showed up:
The Rosella, above, loves bathing and drinking at Al's birdbath (Jan 3)
It is proving very popular this morning! (Jan 4) The Rosella shared the birdbath for a moment with a Bowerbird, then a whole family of Lorikeets had fun splashing.
Lovely surprise visit from 'Mr. Stick' to the new cam location - under the aviary. He was interested in the seed Al had spread there.
He's looking healthy - love his shiny colouring!
